Reilly Pond Ecosystem

This artwork was created for a kiosk at Reilly Pond in the Wilson M. Powell Sanctuary in Columbia County, NY, to highlight the pond's ecosystem.

Included species are: Red Maple (leaf and seeds), Black Willow (leaf), Belted Kingfisher, Common Green Darner, Great Blue Heron, Wood Frog, Broad-leaved Cattail, Northern Water Snake, Snapping Turtle, Elm leaf Beetle, Glossy Pillar, Great Duckweed, Cinnamon Fern, Philonotis, Algae, and Beaver.

The Wilson M. Powell Sanctuary is owned by the Alan Devoe Bird Club. It was donated in 1959 by Elsie K. Powell, Sr. in memory of her late husband, after whom the sanctuary is named. Their daughter, Elsie K. Powell, Jr., and other generous donors have since given additional land. Today, the sanctuary totals 145 acres, dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of birds and other wildlife.
